Link Layer Models for Wireless Sensor Networks
This document is a tutorial version of [1], its main purpose is to provide enough information and tools to generate link layer models for wireless sensor networks (WSN), namely the packet reception rate (PRR) as a function of distance. It also provides a basic understanding of simple concepts in wireless communication (used in the model) for people who does not feel comfortable with the physica...
متن کاملConsistent Sensor, Relay, and Link Selection in Wireless Sensor Networks
In wireless sensor networks, where energy is scarce, it is inefficient to have all nodes active because they consume a non-negligible amount of battery. In this paper we consider the problem of jointly selecting sensors, relays and links in a wireless sensor network where the active sensors need to communicate their measurements to one or multiple access points. Information messages are routed ...
متن کاملA Link Availability Predictor for Wireless Sensor Networks
We present a machine learning based approach to link availability prediction to be used in low power wireless sensor network routing. Accurately predicting availability of intermediate quality links will enable cost-efficient routing without sacrificing reliability and stability. Our predictor performs just slightly better than a simple predictor.
متن کاملData Link Layer Design for Wireless Sensor Networks
This paper presents the architecture of data link layer for wireless sensor networks. Requirements are specified and functional description is given. Relationship between different subsystems is also discussed. The designed data link layer has ultra-low power consumption. It is distributed, simple and robust. Additionally, it requires no synchronization.
متن کاملExploring Link Correlation for Efficient Flooding in Wireless Sensor Networks
Existing flooding algorithms have demonstrated their effectiveness in achieving communication efficiency and reliability in wireless sensor networks. However, further performance improvement has been hampered by the assumption of link independence, a design premise imposing the need for costly acknowledgements (ACKs) from every receiver. In this paper, we present Collective Flooding (CF), which...
